Upholstery
Carpet holds onto dust and allergens far more than a hard floor does, which is why professional cleaning is recommended every 6–12 months even for carpets that look fine on the surface. We use hot-water extraction to reach down into the pile, not just the top layer a vacuum touches.

A vacuum, however good, only lifts loose surface debris — dust mites, ground-in soil and allergens settle further down in the pile where regular vacuuming never reaches. Hot-water extraction (sometimes called steam cleaning, though it's really hot water under pressure) forces water and cleaning agent down into the pile, then extracts it back out along with what it's lifted.
Fitted wall-to-wall carpet is treated in place and needs the longest drying time. Loose area rugs can be cleaned more thoroughly since they can be worked from both sides. Commercial carpet tiles, common in offices, are treated the same way but scheduled around your working hours so the space isn't out of use during business time.
For heavily stained or high-traffic carpet, we pre-treat visible stains before the main extraction pass rather than relying on a single step to do both jobs. This is the difference between a carpet that looks refreshed and one that's genuinely deep-cleaned — skipping pre-treatment is a common shortcut that leaves old stains only partially lifted.
Drying time is typically a few hours with good ventilation — fans or open windows speed this up noticeably. We can schedule around your household or office hours so the space isn't unusable for longer than necessary.
Good to Know
Every 6–12 months for most households, more often in high-traffic commercial spaces or homes with pets. Carpet that looks clean on the surface can still be holding a lot of dust and allergens deeper in the pile.
In most cases, yes — extraction lifts the residue causing the odour rather than masking it, which is more effective than surface deodorising sprays. Deeply set-in odours from long-term issues may need a repeat treatment for full results.
We recommend keeping foot traffic off the carpet until it’s fully dry to avoid re-soiling or flattening the pile while damp — typically a few hours, longer in humid conditions.
